When you look around your table this Thanksgiving weekend, take in the sights and smells of all the delicious food around you and the people you are sharing this meal with. Breathe in (with all five senses) the turkey, root vegetables, greens and even the homemade cranberry sauce (I have a recipe for you ? at the end of this post).
Remember the sweets don’t make the holiday. You aren’t missing out if you choose not to participate in eating the things that detract from your health and wellness goals, knowing that they actually set you back in your journey towards optimal wellness is an incredibly empowering thought!
What really matters is gathering up your loved ones and sharing with them the gratitude you have for your life and for their life. Celebrate having a roof over your head, the clothes on your back, the air in your lungs, and the life surging through your entire body.
Celebrate the food in front of you… Take care in selecting dishes you prepare so that the food you place on your table is made with loving care.
Serve that food based on the premise that you are filling your bodies with healthy whole nutrients. Talk openly about the gratitude you have for your health and the health of our loved ones. Life’s biggest reward is being in the here and now!
Each one of you enrich my life as a Nutritionist and as a person.
I am deeply passionate about building a community of healthy humans. Humans that love their bodies. Humans that treat their bodies with care. Humans who take the knowledge I give, each week, from a caring place, and use that knowledge to build each other up.
As a thank you for bringing so much joy to Valeo and my practice I wanted to share with you one of my favorite Fall Holiday recipes.
What I am asking is that you take photographs of the beautiful creations you make over this weekend, and share them with us via email (Valeo / Marissa) or tag us in social media, so I can begin to create a catalogue of the amazing dishes we create as a community.
In the coming months I would like to offer personal cooking classes and additional Nutrition groups that meet together with a common goal (ex. Hormone balancing, eating for Thyroid Health, Eating for Emotional Health, Eating for Neuro-Behavioural Disorders, Eating for Sports Nutrition). If this is something that interests you, email me, Marissa (Holistic Nutritionist at Valeo) , so I add these events to our roster of care.
I wish you all health and happiness and thank you for the gifts you bring me as a practitioner.
Happy Thanksgiving from my family to yours. ?
